{"id":4168,"date":"2019-11-26t11:12:09","date_gmt":"2019-11-26t11:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/?p=4168"},"modified":"2019-11-26t11:14:04","modified_gmt":"2019-11-26t11:14:04","slug":"audit-reveals-continuing-high-performance-of-specialist-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/audit-reveals-continuing-high-performance-of-specialist-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"audit reveals continuing high performance of specialist centres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>the uk\u2019s specialist ph\ntreatment centres are continuing to hit high performance targets, according to\nthe results of the latest national audit of pulmonary hypertension. <\/p><p>the tenth audit is based on\ndata submitted between 1<sup>st<\/sup> april 2018 and 31<sup>st<\/sup> march 2019\nand shows a wide range of targets being met or exceeded.<\/p><p>every\nyear since 2008, the uk\u2019s specialist pulmonary hypertension centres have been\nasked to provide information on what they do and what their outcomes are, to\nensure high standards are maintained.<\/p><p>the\nlatest findings include:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>96% of patients have a quality of life\nquestionnaire recorded at least once a year<\/li><li>96% of patients taking ph specific drugs have\nhad at least one annual consultation at a specialist ph centre <\/li><li>99% of patients referred to a specialist centre\nwere seen, assessed and diagnosed within six months<\/li><li>97% of patients had a right heart catheter before\nbeing given drugs to treat ph<\/li><\/ul><p>the\npha uk played an important role in setting up the national audit of pulmonary\nhypertension by funding its first year in 2010. the audit is now funded via nhs\nspecial commissioning in england and managed by nhs digital.<\/p><p><strong>the pha uk have summarised the findings of the latest audit in the winter 2019 issue of <\/strong><a href=\"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/resources\/emphasis-magazine\/\"><strong>emp<\/strong><\/a><strong><a href=\"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/resources\/emphasis-magazine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"hasis (opens in a new tab)\">hasis<\/a>. you can read the summary <\/strong><a href=\"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/11\/pha221-52pp-a4-emphasis_winter19_nat-audit.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong><\/p><p><strong>the full audit report can be accessed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digital.nhs.uk\/pubs\/naph10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here  (opens in a new tab)\">here <\/a><\/strong><\/p><p>for the second year running the eight ph centres who took part in the audit have been invited to share their completed \u2018local action plans\u2019 with patients and the public by publishing them alongside the annual report.&nbsp;the plans describe how the centres plan to address areas requiring improvement and last year, six of the eight centres provided them for publication.&nbsp;to see them click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digital.nhs.uk\/pubs\/naph9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here (opens in a new tab)\">here<\/a>. <\/p><p>this year\u2019s local action plans will be published as they become available over the coming months.&nbsp;
