two ambitious supporters will travel the entire length of the uk for our charity this summer.<\/strong><\/p>

colin ayrton will set off on his cycle from land’s end to john o’groats this week (4th may) and karen doak will run the route in june. <\/p>

colin, 74, has always wanted to tackle the iconic 1200-mile route. he’s raising money in support of his wife carole<\/a>, who was diagnosed with ph in 2010, and he’ll be thinking of her when the going gets tough. <\/p>

“the pha uk has been so good and given so much to carole, that i decided to turn the challenge into a fundraiser because if i can give something back, i will do”<\/em>, he said.<\/p>

“we do not pretend the journey has been easy but, with support from the charity and of course her amazing team of specialists in sheffield, my wife has been able to witness the birth of a granddaughter and see her first steps, her first lost tooth and her first day at school. in january last year she was able to attend her daughter\u2019s wedding, making us all laugh with a great speech about the joys of raising a family.  we never thought she would see or do any of these things.”<\/em><\/p>

following in colin’s tyre tracks will be karen doak, who is running the route with her husband in support of friend wendy. their challenge will span five weeks from the beginning of june, with the pair jogging all day every day to reach the most northern tip of the uk. funds will be split between ourselves and the seafarers’ charity<\/a><\/p>
