from today (22nd november) anyone in england aged 40 or over can book a covid-19 booster jab. those aged 16 and 17 are also now eligible to book their second jab.<\/p>

\"\ud83c\udff4\udb40\udc67\udb40\udc62\udb40\udc73\udb40\udc63\udb40\udc74\udb40\udc7f\" over 40s in scotland will be offered a booster once the earlier priority groups have received theirs.<\/p>

\"\ud83c\udff4\udb40\udc67\udb40\udc62\udb40\udc77\udb40\udc6c\udb40\udc73\udb40\udc7f\" in wales and northern ireland, currently only those over 50 and other eligible groups are able to book a booster.<\/p>

so far, more than 14 million booster jabs have been administered in the uk.<\/p>

sajid javid, health and social care secretary, said: “we know immunity to covid-19 begins to wane after 6 months and new data shows a third dose boosts protection against symptomatic infection to more than 90% \u2013 this highlights just how important it is that everyone eligible gets their top-up jabs as soon as possible.<\/p>

the jcvi will keep under review whether the booster programme should be extended to all people under the age of 40 and i look forward to receiving their advice in due course.”<\/p>
