hospital consultants advised me to join as they said the information would be helpful and it would connect me to people with my condition. i joined in january last year.<\/p>

what’s the best thing about being a member?<\/strong> <\/h5>

having up-to-date information and reading other phighters\u2019 stories. i have also met a really good friend through the website. sometimes it can feel isolating but scrolling through the website \/ emphasis makes me remember i\u2019m not alone.<\/p>

which specialist centre do you attend?<\/strong> <\/h5>

i am cared for by hammersmith hospital in london. thank you to the whole of the ph team there. without them i wouldn\u2019t be here today\u2026 words could never express how grateful i am.<\/p>

what advice would you give someone newly diagnosed with ph? <\/strong><\/h5>

never give up hope. no matter how dark some days are, there will be another day that will be brighter. your medical team are your anchor. always accept help from friends or family members to make your life a little easier.<\/p>

who (or what) makes you happy? <\/strong><\/h5>

my children and my family unit, and socialising with friends, makes me happy. being able to continue working keeps my mind occupied.

and finally, what does being a ‘phighter’ mean to you?<\/strong><\/h5>

being a phighter means that i now have a better quality of life. even though i experience pain and fatigue, i try to appreciate each day and live my life to the fullest. it puts it into perspective how important my children, relationship and family are.<\/p>
