gets ph?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>pulmonary hypertension (ph) can affect anyone, regardless of age or ethnic background. it is more common in women than men.<\/p><p>it affects adults and <a href=\"\/\/www.aselpijama.com\/what-is-ph\/children-and-ph\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">children<\/a> of all ages, from birth up to those in their eighties and beyond.<\/p><p>in most people with ph, it is associated with another medical condition. conditions that increase your risk of developing ph include:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>portal hypertension<\/li><li>connective tissue disease, e.g.&nbsp;systemic sclerosis<\/li><li>hiv infection<\/li><li>congenital heart disease<\/li><li>sickle cell anaemia<\/li><\/ul><p>a small number of people with ph develop it without having another medical condition and for most of these people, there is no known reason behind it. this is called <strong>idiopathic ph<\/strong>, and is sometimes referred to as ipah.<\/p><p>in very rare cases, ph can be inherited and there is research being undertaken to understand more about this.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a <\/h2><p>children of all ages can develop ph, from newborn upwards. ph is not the same as <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gosh.nhs.uk\/conditions-and-treatments\/conditions-we-treat\/persistent-pulmonary-hypertension-newborn-pphn\/\" target=\"_blank\">persistent pulmonary hypertension of the
